Each set-up day, 20 men start the seven-hour process of raising the Big Top, and each tear-down night, by the light of the moon, the same men pack it for its next stop.

Circus Vargas visits the SCV each year hoping to bring the “big top” circus experience to everyone. The Big Top consists of 90,000 square feet of canvas fabric, supported by 500 stakes and more than four miles of rope and cable weighing some 17 tons. Each set-up day, 20 men start the seven-hour process of raising the Big Top, and each tear-down night, by the light of the moon, the same men pack it for its next stop. See “Connect SCV” inside for coverage of the Circus Vargas visit.
