Firefighters in Gorman responded to a grass fire in the center median of Interstate 5 just south of Highway 138, fire officials said.

Shortly after 4:30 p.m., motorists passing by the small grass fire south of Quail Lake Road reported the incident to emergency response units, including the California Highway Patrol and the Los Angeles County Fire Department.

Firefighters responding from Station 77 in Gorman called off other firefighting units and reported they had it under control, A Fire Department spokesman said.
