Letter: Where’s the Community Expo coverage?

I was a bit surprised to see no mention of the 28th annual SCV Community Expo and Taste of Expo happening Saturday, Oct. 13, in your Connect SCV Weekly Arts and Entertainment Magazine.

While the venue and format of this event has changed through the years, it’s still a signature event for the SCV.

If The Signal truly is a local paper, it seems this event should at least be listed. The omission must be a mistake, or there is a disconnect in the relationship between the Chamber of Commerce and The Signal.

It’s nice to see, however, that almost two pages on fall houseboating and local out-of-the-area getaways are included, but that’s paid advertising.

I realize there are changes at The once-Mighty Signal, but it would be nice if there were some attention to community events, especially an event with 28 years of history.

Perhaps it will be listed in Friday’s Escape supplement.

Editor’s note: The Wednesday, Oct. 10, issue of The Signal included a complete story about the 28th annual SCV Community Expo, including sponsors, events new and old, vendors and details on the Taste of Expo. The story was posted online Oct. 9. The Community Expo was listed again in a roundup of weekend activities in the Saturday, Oct. 13, issue of The Signal, and that story was also posted online. The Signal remains a community paper dedicated to keeping readers informed about community events. But as our Signal readers know, Escape is no longer published; it has been replaced by Connect SCV Weekly Arts & Entertainment Magazine, which comes out Wednesdays.
