Israel and Gaza: Who's responsible?

Israel is justified in its attack against Hamas in Gaza. It is Hamas who is responsible for the violence.

I've lived in Israel and been to the cities that receive daily rocket attacks from Gaza. Based on my experience, Israel is justly defending itself.

In 2008, approximately 3,000 rockets and mortars were fired into Israel, as Obama said upon visiting Sderot, a frequent target of Hamas rockets.

If somebody was sending rockets into my house where my two daughters sleep at night, I would do everything to stop that and would expect Israel to do the same thing.

Hamas allowed the cease-fire to expire with no desire to renew another. Palestinian Authority President Abbas places the blame for violence on Hamas.

Israel does not deliberately target civilians as some would like you to think. Hamas has purposely set up its operations in residential areas.

It is Hamas who hides its terrorists in nurseries, hospitals, as well as the rest of the civilian population while not distinguishing themselves. The vast majority of people killed have been terrorists. As for the humanitarian crisis, there's a dilemma.

Supplies that are sent to Gaza are usually taken by terrorist organizations to use for their own purposes.

The civilians do not see much of the aid.

Israel is criticized for not sending in fuel, yet when the fuel trucks go in they are attacked. Damned if you do, damned if you don't.

Hamas does not care for the civilians in Gaza. Israel still allows humanitarian aid into Gaza during this time.

Last, quit referring to Hamas as militants. They are terrorists who indiscriminately kill civilians. They have no regard for human life, as Fathi Hamad, Hamas representative, declared: "We desire death as you desire life."

Israel has shown a great amount of restraint over the years. Most other countries would never tolerate rocket attacks against its civilian population.
