A 40-year-old woman led California Highway Patrol officers on a 38-minute high speed chase Saturday down Sierra Highway in Canyon Country.

The CHP responded to a report of the woman acting suspiciously near Ward Road and Escondido Canyon Road at 12:35 p.m., according to CHP Officer Christian Cracraft.

Units were dispatched to the scene, but the woman fled south on Sierra Highway in a white Pontiac sedan after seeing the officers. The CHP pursued, but the woman refused to pull over.

CHP officers deployed a spike strip to stop the Pontiac, but the woman evaded it and kept on going, Cracraft said.
The woman continued south on Sierra into Santa Clarita evading officers. She finally jumped the center divider, puncturing two tires, and stopped the sedan near Interstate 5, Cracraft said.

The woman was arrested for felony evading and transferred to a local medical center for evaluation, the officer said.

The driver’s name was not released.
