“Sip, Stroll and Savor the Sounds” at the Soroptimist International of Greater Santa Clarita Valley’s fifth annual The Wine Affair. The event will be held 2-6 p.m. Sunday, Oct. 21, at Valencia Town Center. Tickets are $50 in advance; $60 one week prior to the event. Participants must be at least 21 years of age. Saturday, Oct. 27

The 10th annual Rubber Ducky Festival will be held at Bridgeport Park in Valencia from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. Festival is family oriented, with rubber ducky regattas starting at noon. Saturday, Nov. 3

The Santa Clarita Valley Rose Society will host its free 19th annual Rose Show themed “Wild West Roses” on Saturday, Nov. 3, 2012, in Hart Hall at the William S. Hart Park, 24151 Newhall Ave., Newhall. Everyone is welcome to exhibit their home-grown roses at the show, including novices and children. Bring your roses in a container of water, and the rose society will furnish the vases and the entry tags. There will be 76 prizes and more than 500 ribbons awarded. Rose entries will be received in the parking lot from 7 a.m. to 9:45 a.m. The rose show will open to the public at 12:30 p.m. (or as soon as judging is completed). Men of Harmony Chorus seeks voices

The SCV Men of Harmony Chorus meets 7:30-9:45 p.m. every Tuesday, Valley Oaks Village Apartments, 24700 Valley Street  Santa Clarita. The group’s specialty is singing in four-part harmony without musical accompaniment, also known as a cappella singing. All singing men in any voice range are welcome.  The 15-man group entertains for local organizations and enjoys vocalizing on a regular basis. Heads Up volunteer training classes

Heads Up Therapy with Horses, a 501(c)3 nonprofit, is accepting candidates for its free volunteer orientation and training classes. Minimum age required is 14; those 14-17 need a parent’s signed approval to join the program. Graduates receive certificate and proceed to extended hands-on training. Heads Up specializes in therapeutic riding and equine therapy interaction sessions for children and adults with special needs and is located in Canyon Country. To sign up, call Nancy at 661-312-6184. Carousel Ranch calls for volunteers

Carousel Ranch is a nonprofit organization that provides therapeutic riding lessons to children with special needs. Volunteers must be at least 15. SCV Food Pantry needs volunteers

The SCV Food Pantry needs volunteer drivers to pick up donations from local markets and businesses. Drivers must have a valid California driver’s license, the ability to lift 50 lbs. and the willingness to help those less fortunate in the SCV. Volunteer drivers are asked to commit to one day per week.  Regularly scheduled pick ups with Food Pantry vehicles are made Monday through Thursday from 9 a.m. to noon. Volunteers needed at Senior Center

The SCV Senior Center calls for volunteers for the following tasks: Pack nutritious meals for homebound seniors, 6-10 a.m.; deliver meals to homebound seniors, 10 a.m.-1 p.m.; serve meals and clean, 11:30 a.m.-2 p.m. One day a week is all it takes to make a difference. Annual Bow-Wows & Meows Pet Fair

The 12th annual Bow-Wows & Meows Pet Fair will be held 11 a.m.-4 p.m. Sunday, Oct. 14 and feature adoptable pets from L.A. invasive plant cleanup

Help pull invasive plants that are preventing native plant recovery in the Station Fire burn area and get the Angeles National Forest back in shape, 8:30 a.m.-3 p.m. Sunday, Oct. 14 and 28 and Nov. 11. Bark for Life at Bridgeport Park

Bark For Life, a canine event to fight cancer and raise funds for the American Cancer Society, will be held 8-11:30 a.m. at Bridgeport Park on Saturday, Oct. 20. Along with the walk – one mile around the perimeter of the park – there will be many other activities, including a blessing of the dogs by Pastor Kevin Johnson from Real Life Church and cancer survivors who will talk about how much their dogs helped with their struggles. Vendors with dog-themed merchandise will be onsite and participants can have formal portraits taken with their dogs, with proceeds benefiting the American Cancer Society.
