A man was hospitalized today with a broken leg after his big rig gravel truck flipped on a surface street near Gorman, local fire officials confirmed.
About 8:30 a.m., emergency crews responded to reports a big rig had overturned on Gorman Post Road about 1.5 miles north of Highway 138, said a spokesman for the Los Angeles County Fire Department.
“We received word that it was an auto collision, specifically an overturned gravel truck,” the spokesman said.
At 8:44 a.m., when California Highway Patrol officers arrived at the single-vehicle crash, they found both lanes blocked on Gorman Post Road, which runs parallel to Interstate 5 between Gorman and Highway 138.
They reported the gravel-hauler’s driver had a broken leg.
A Fire Department helicopter arrived at the crash site at 9:24 a.m. and airlifted the injured driver to a local hospital, the Fire Department spokesman said.
