CORRECTS TYPE OF WEAPON AND WHY NAME OF SUSPECT IS NOT GIVEN
A motorist was arrested at gunpoint Sunday afternoon and charged with having a loaded and concealed gun in his car, a spokesman for the Sheriff’s Station said.
About 5 p.m., a deputy with the Santa Clarita Valley Sheriff’s Station noticed a motorist in Canyon Country talking on a cellphone and driving a car with a cracked windshield, Sgt. Brian Allen said Sunday.
The deputy pulled the motorist over on Pleasantdale Street near Deeptree Avenue, he said.
“As she approached the vehicle, she asked if he had any weapons in the car,” Allen said. “He apparently answered ‘I do have a gun in the car.’”
At that point, the arresting deputy pulled out her semi-automatic pistol and ordered the motorist out of the vehicle.
No shots were fired, and no one was injured in the arrest, Allen said.
The man was taken to the Sheriff’s Station, where he was charged. His name was not available from authorities Sunday night.
