Man injured after falling off Hurricane Harbor waterslide

A man was rushed to the hospital with undisclosed injuries Sunday after he reportedly “muscled his way” onto on a speed slide at Hurricane Harbor and went down the slide the wrong way, a spokeswoman for Six Flags Magic Mountain said.

About 4:20 p.m., a man standing at the top of Black Snake Summit forced his way past lifeguards and went down the slide the wrong way, said Sue Carpenter.

“He was not cleared to go by lifeguards,” she said. “He muscled his way through the line and went down the slide.”

Carpenter said park guests are instructed to go down Black Snake Summit “feet first, ankles crossed and hands behind your head.”

“He went down head first,” she said.

At 4:43 p.m., the man was transported to Henry Mayo Newhall Memorial Hospital, said Supervisor Melanie Flores, of the Los Angeles County Fire Department.

The incident happened on the last day of Hurricane Harbor, Carpenter said, with less than an hour remaining until the water park closed its doors for the summer.

There were a lot of people at the water park as temperatures rose above seasonal highs, she said.
