DESERT HOT SPRINGS, Calif. (AP) — A woman's body has been found in a shallow grave in the Southern California desert and a man has been arrested on suspicion of killing her.

The Riverside Sheriff's Department said deputies arrested 46-year-old Carl Richard Perdock early Friday.

The 33-year-old woman's name has not been released pending notification of relatives.

Deputies went to Perdock's home Thursday after his roommate reported that he was depressed over a breakup with an ex-girlfriend and making threats. The deputies were directed to the ex-girlfriend's home, where they found signs of a struggle.

When deputies went to question Perdock at a home in the desert community of Sky Valley, he fled in a Jeep Cherokee and led deputies on a chase through the desert before being caught. The body was found near the home.
