Entering the game as the No. 1 ranked team in the CIF-Southern Section Northern Division, Hart proved it’s ready to compete in upcoming Foothill League play as it rolled in its final preleague game 41-7 over Santa Monica Friday at College of the Canyons.

The Indians took a 7-0 lead with 5:21 to play in the first quarter when quarterback Brady White hit Wes Fitzpatrick for a 12-yard touchdown.

White threw his second touchdown pass with 8:19 left in the second quarter as he connected with Connor Wingenroth from 10 yards out to extend the lead to 14-0 in favor of Hart (4-1).

Later in the quarter, Wingenroth scored his second touchdown of the game on a 15-yard scamper to give the Indians’ a 20-0 lead heading into halftime.

Wingenroth had six carries for 88 yards in the first half and finished the game with nine carries for 97 yards.

For the season, Wingenroth now has 513 yards and nine touchdowns on 62 rush attempts.

On the opening play from scrimmage in the second half, Hart safety Austin Murillo recorded his second interception of the game, which gave the Indians great starting field position at the Viking 23-yard line.

Six plays and less than two minutes later, Antoine Holmes punched in a 3-yard touchdown to give Hart a 27-0 lead.

The lone bright moment in the game for Santa Monica (2-3) came on the ensuing possession when USC commit Sebastian LaRue took a slant pass 70 yards for a score to cut the deficit to 27-7.

LaRue finished with four catches for 121 yards.

Hart responded with two touchdowns late in the third quarter.

With 4:29 to play in the third, White hit Davis Koppenhaver, who made an acrobatic leaping catch in the end zone over the defender, for a 31-yard touchdown and a 34-7 lead.

The catch was Koppenhaver’s only one on the night.

White finished the game going 12-for-19 for 164 yards and three touchdowns.

With 2:36 left in the third quarter, Hart’s Trent Irwin returned a punt 58-yards for a touchdown to set the final score at 41-7.

Irwin also caught four passes for 81 yards in the game.

With the victory, the Indians enter Foothill League play on a four-game winning streak.

They’ll be in action again in their Foothill League season opener Friday at home against West Ranch.
