Students at Charles Helmers Elementary School in Valencia were honored Tuesday for their participation in the Amgen Tour of California, which passed through the Santa Clarita Valley in February.

Helmers earned both spirit and participation awards as part of the Amgen events.

Representatives of the city of Santa Clarita attended an assembly at the school Tuesday morning to present the awards.
