Firefighters battling a brush fire near Gorman since Saturday had it under control by noon Sunday, an official with the Angeles National Forest reports.

The fire which broke out shortly before 6 p.m. Saturday, consumed at least 24 acres near Old Ridge Route Road and Mesa View Drive near Quail Lake, said Angeles National Forest spokesman Nathan Judy.

“I just left the fire line a couple of minutes ago and firefighters have it 75 percent contained,” Judy said about 11:45 a.m. Sunday.

“We’re looking at having it 100 percent contained sometime this afternoon,” he said.

No one was injured in the fire and no structures damaged.

Two crews from the Los Angeles County Fire Department assisted in the firefighting, a department spokesman said.

The response team had been reduced from 300 personnel, eight crews and several aircraft deployed Saturday.

“We’re looking good right now,” Judy said Sunday. “We have lines all around the fire.”
