A 3-year-old girl who drowned in a Canyon Country pool Friday night has been identified as a resident of Valencia, a coroner’s official said.
Lt. Cheryl MacWillie of the Los Angeles County Department of Coroner identified the young victim as Malek Osman.
On Friday, at 7:34 p.m., paramedics of the Los Angeles County Fire Department were dispatched to Dune Lane, near
Oak Springs Road in Canyon Country for report of a girl who drowned in a swimming pool, Inspector Bernard Peters told The Signal.
“She was transferred by air shortly after 8 p.m.,” he said.
Officials used Canyon Country Park as a landing zone for the helicopter to pick up the child, officials reported at the time.
Despite the rescue efforts, Osman died at Children’s Hospital Los Angeles about 9 p.m.
