Santa Clarita Christian seems to have righted the ship after starting the season 1-2, as the Cardinals defeated Keppel on Friday 27-0 to record their second straight shutout victory.

SCCS got on the board quickly scoring on an 11-yard touchdown pass from Jonathan Sevedra to JonLuke Wilson with six minutes remaining in the first quarter.

“It was good. We drove down and had a nice drive running the ball. Derek Lewis got us going on the ground,” said SCCS head coach Garrick Moss. “It was a  big statement for our small, little team.”

Saavedra finished with 118 yards passing on 10-of-25 attempts with three touchdowns.

Lewis ran for 123 yards with a touchdown rushing and another receiving.

The defense, led by Danny Blake’s forced fumble, interception and seven tackles, pitched the shutout.

Saavedra completed a 20-yard pass to DJ King with about nine minutes remaining to set the final score.

SCCS plays Southlands Christian on Saturday at Canyon at 7 p.m.

Trinity Classical 48,

Fulton Prep 8

Trinity Classical Academy football rebounded from its first loss of the season to blow out Fulton Prep 48-8 on Friday night at Fulton.

Leading the way for the Knights (3-1) was all-around quarterback Dakota Prochnow, who accounted for 237 total yards and six total touchdowns. Of those touchdowns, four came through the air, a welcome sight for the Knights given their passing game’s lack of fluidity a week ago. After leading the Jaguars (3-2) 34-0 at halftime, the Knights cruised to their third win of the season. Trinity is on the road against Liberty Christian next week.
