Los Angeles Police Chief Charlie Beck speaks a Los Angeles City Council meeting on July 24 in Los Angeles.

LOS ANGELES (AP) — Los Angeles police chief Charlie Beck is back on the job after his collarbone was broken in a motocross accident last week.

Officer Sara Faden says the chief returned to work Monday. She declined to give details of the accident, saying only that it happened Friday.

Faden says the chief has won many awards in motocross.

Beck told the Los Angeles Times that broken collarbones are the occasional price one pays for racing motocross.
