Amanda Corr is the core of the Hart High girls golf team

Amanda Corr becomes the second member of her extended family to win an All-SCV Golfer of the Year award. Her cousin Nick Delio won the boys award in 2006 and 2007.

Kendall Dusenberry - freshman, Hart
The Foothill League's Most Valuable Player, Dusenberry shot onto the girls golf scene with great performance after great performance. During league play, she was medalist in the second and third Foothill matches. She also won the Newhall Land Cup, shooting a 27-hole score of 113 - a low for the three-year tournament. She topped off the season with an 81 at the CIF-Southern Section Northern Individual Regional, which qualified her for the CIF-Southern Section Individual Final and WSCGA Qualifying Tournament.

Nikki Prichard - sophomore, Hart
Prichard started the season with a bang and never stopped. She was medalist at the Foothill League's first competition with a 32 and was always near the lead. She shot a 74, tying Corr for the Valley lead in the CIF-Southern Section Individual Final and WSCGA Qualifying Tournament. Her season ended with a respectable 82 at the CIF-WSCGA Foundation Girls' Regional Golf Championship at Canyon Crest Country Club in Riverside.

Brenna Carlson - sophomore, Hart
Carlson's best day came at the CIF-SS Team Final at Cypress Ridge Golf Course in Arroyo Grande where she shot a team-low 83 at the 18-hole championship. The sophomore qualified for CIF individual playoffs after a fine follow-up to her freshman year. Carlson was consistently dependable as well during league play, never shooting in the 40s.

Tiara Wells - senior, Saugus
Wells flew under the radar in 2008, but was easily one of the valley's top prep golfers. She was Saugus' low scorer in four out of five league matches. The senior shot a 78 in the first round of the CIF Individual postseason, then added another 78, an 80 and an 84 in three other postseason events. Her 84 came in the CIF-WSCGA Foundation Girls' Regional Golf Championship at Canyon Crest Country Club in Riverside, ending her season just short of the state final.

Just two years into her high school golf career, Hart's Amanda Corr has gone through two year-end battles.

Both battles were for the same moniker - best girls prep golfer in the Santa Clarita Valley.

Both battles were decided by a slim margin.

In 2007, Corr became the Foothill League Most Valuable Player, but Valencia's Jasnin Samson was better in the postseason - slightly.

This year, Corr was edged for the Most Valuable Player by freshman teammate Kendall Dusenberry.

Dusenberry beat Corr out by one stroke.

Then Corr turned it on.

The sophomore finished first at the Foothill League Finals to begin her tear.

Corr was outstanding both the CIF individual and team playoffs.

She shot a valley-best 76 at the par-72 Soule Park Golf Club in the CIF-Southern Section Northern Individual Regional Nov. 3.

Just three days later, she shot a 74 to tie for 10th overall at the CIF-Southern Section Individual Final and WSCGA Qualifying Tournament.

On Nov. 17, Corr had one of her finest performances of the year, only to leave the course crushed.

Her 74 at the 2008 CIF-WSCGA Foundation Girls' Regional Golf Championship at Canyon Crest Country Club in Riverside was just two strokes off of a trip to the CIF State Final.

It marked the end of her sophomore season, but there were other highlights.

The 76 she shot Nov. 10 was the best Indians score at the CIF-Southern Section Northern Team Divisional at River Ridge Golf Club in Oxnard. The Indians became the first girls golf team in valley history to win a CIF divisional championship.

During the Foothill League season, Corr was medalist three times.

She shot a league and course record 4-under 29 at Vista Valencia Golf Course Oct. 14.

The Indians as a team had a historic golf season.

And yet they may be just starting.

The team is built around three sophomores and one freshman.

The core of that team, though, has to be one person.

Based off consistency and production, it's a girl named Amanda - Amanda Corr, our 2008 All-Santa Clarita Valley Girls Golfer of the Year.
