Santa Clarita was ranked among the “Top 25 City Retail Markets in California” in a 2012 survey based on analysis of 11 years of retail sales data, annual retail sales volume and 2010 year-end estimates.
With more than $2 billion in sales, the city of Santa Clarita ranked higher than Beverly Hills, Burbank, Glendale and Santa Monica, according to the research firm Eureka Group. The retail survey ranks the largest cities in California based on dollar volume, growth rates and sales per outlet.
Santa Clarita’s reputation as a strong retail market emerged after the city formed in 1987. And, in the middle of the Great Recession, city leaders worked with Westfield Valencia Town Center to open more than 40 retailers, several restaurants and two auto dealerships.
Businesses are betting on the success of Santa Clarita as a leading retail market that is poised for continued growth, a spokesman for the city said.
