Crime Prevention Unit

Zone 5-Valencia had twenty Part 1 Crimes reported this week, which is the same number as reported last week. The crimes identified were domestic violence, assault with a deadly weapon, robbery, commercial, residential and vehicle burglaries.

The three incidents of domestic violence occurred in various areas of Valencia. In all three incidents suspects were arrested and there were additional charges of assault with a deadly weapon, with items such as a bat, skateboard and hammer being used as weapons.

A robbery occurred at a local hardware store at 5:05 pm on Wednesday, September 5. The suspect stole power tools and ran out of the location via the rear fire exit door to avoid apprehension. A getaway vehicle was driven by an unknown female Hispanic. It appears the same suspects were involved in another robbery, five days earlier at a different hardware store in Saugus. Person(s) of interest has been identified and the case is currently being investigated by Santa Clarita Detectives.

Two commercial burglaries occurred during the week between 1:00 am and 9:30 am. Items stolen were prescription type narcotics from a pharmacy and consumable goods from a retail store. One arrest was made. In the second incident, the suspect was not arrested; however, the case is being investigated further based on video surveillance present at the location during this crime.

A residential burglary occurred in the 24000 block of McBean Parkway, on Wednesday, September 5, at 1:15 PM. Three suspects entered a residence through an unlocked sliding glass door and stole a television. Based on a witness description of the suspects and a quick response by Santa Clarita Deputies, all three suspects were located and taken into custody.

Remember to lock all windows and doors before leaving your residence. Report all suspicious activity by calling the Sheriff’s Station at 661-255-1121.

There were three incidents of vehicle burglary in areas of Del Monte Drive, Brookside Drive and Citrus Street, during the hours of 10:00 am-1:00 pm. Items stolen were cell phones, money and tools all which were plain sight.

As always, please secure all personal belongings. Do not leave your personal items (purses, book bags, lap tops, etc.) unattended or visible in your vehicles. Remember to secure your vehicles by rolling up all windows, locking all doors and when possible try to park in well-lit and highly visible areas.
