LOS ANGELES (AP) — Investigators say an apparently suicidal man has jumped from a bridge into the path of an Amtrak train near downtown Los Angeles.

The man was struck by the train late Wednesday after jumping from the First Street bridge linking downtown with Boyle Heights.

Police Sgt. Joe Bailey tells City News Service that it was apparently a suicide. The man's name is being withheld.

Amtrak says there were no injuries to the crew and 30 passengers aboard the Pacific Surfliner from San Diego to Los Angeles.
