Letter: Make fundraisers more accessible

I think the fundraising in this valley is outstanding. We are a very caring and compassionate community.

I, for one, would love to be able to do more for our hospital and nonprofits, and there was a time when I could. I think it is outstanding when we can acknowledge those individuals in our community who have gone above and beyond.

In the Sunday, Sept. 2, paper referring to the SCV Women and Men of Honor Gala, Shelley Hann said one way to attract new attendees to support fundraisers is to give people a fun event to attend.

Every Saturday night in September, there is a major fundraiser costing $60 and more.

There are many people in this valley who would love to attend all these events but simply cannot afford the ticket. Perhaps these events could have a lower price, therefore making them more affordable to the community and possibly attracting more people and therefore raising more money.

I would love to be able to attend more events. I am just throwing an idea out there.

We know who the movers and shakers in the SCV are, and maybe it is time for them to let some new members in. We don’t want to just read about these events in Lifestyle and Michele Buttelman’s column. We want to be part of these events.
