PALM SPRINGS, Calif. (AP) — A hiker has died and another one suffered severe dehydration after they were found in a rugged canyon south of Palm Springs.
Authorities said rangers with the Agua Caliente Band of Cahuilla found the two on a trail around 1:30 p.m. Saturday.
The Riverside County Sheriff's department said one hiker was unresponsive, and was pronounced dead at the scene. The other one displayed severe signs of dehydration and was taken to a hospital in critical condition.
The dead man's name was not released pending notification of relatives.
