Now comes the hard part.

Trinity Classical Academy football disposed of Immanuel Christian of Ridgecrest 58-0 on Friday at West Ranch High.

Now five of the Knights’ final seven games are against CIF-Southern Section Division I 8-Man football teams, including what should be their biggest challenge next Friday, No. 2 Desert Christian in Bermuda Dunes.

“It gets steep quick,” said Trinity head coach Mike Buchanan. “I’ve scouted all the teams. I think this will be the most prominent powerhouse we’ll be playing except for (perennial Division I power) Faith Baptist.”

To prepare for Desert, Division II No. 5 Trinity (2-0) outscored its first two opponents on the season 108-14.

After a season-opening 52-14 win against Orcutt Academy and last week’s bye, Trinity kept the momentum going against Immanuel Christian (0-2).

The Knights were up 22-0 after the first quarter and 44-0 at halftime.

The teams played with a running clock in the second half.

“It wasn’t perfect, but near-perfect,” Buchanan said.

Starting with the defense, Kasey Klar had a big game with 10 tackles, a sack, fumble recovery and safety.

Nick Spinello also had 10 tackles to go along with a blocked punt.

Spencer Klehn also blocked a punt and on offense he had two carries for 52 yards with a touchdown.

Dakota Prochnow threw a 65-yard touchdown pass to Chris Buchanan.

Prochnow also scored a rushing touchdown and Buchanan passed for 85 yards with two touchdowns.

Patch Kulp scored two rushing touchdowns and Ryan Brooks added another.
