GLENDORA, Calif. (AP) — Four days after fire drove them from their homes, dozens of people are returning to a mobile home park and country store in the San Gabriel Mountains.

U.S. Forest Service spokesman Robert Brady says evacuees are being allowed to return to their homes Thursday because the 4,180-acre blaze no longer poses a threat to the rustic community northeast of Los Angeles above Glendora.

Brady says he doesn't have an exact number but it looks like 50 to 100 people are heading home. Some 25 residents refused to evacuate when the fire started Sunday.

A trace of rain Wednesday didn't put the fire out but Brady says it brought humidity that gave plants a dose of moisture and slowed the fire down.

He says it also cooled 1,100 firefighters on front lines.
