NEWBERRY SPRINGS, Calif. (AP) — Authorities are trying to identify human remains discovered in the Mojave Desert after a dog came home with a human foot.
The Riverside Press-Enterprise says a woman called San Bernardino County sheriff's deputies Sunday evening to report that her dog had turned up on the front porch of her Newberry Springs home with a foot and attached leg bone.
Investigators found more remains near the home but haven't been able to determine whether they belong to a man or a woman.
There's no word on how the remains got there.
