Local sheriff’s deputies were searching Tuesday for three masked individuals who held up a Stevenson Ranch hotel at gunpoint the previous night, a spokesman said.

Shortly after 6 p.m. Monday, three people wearing ski masks and gloves entered the Comfort Suites hotel on The Old Road and demanded money at gunpoint, Lt. Tom Bryski said.

No shots were fired and no one was hurt, he said.

Initial reports suggested the three robbers were two men and a boy. However, investigators scrutinizing surveillance footage captured by hotel security said Tuesday they were not so certain about that.

“We’re looking at the surveillance tape and it appears to be two men and someone of short stature,” Bryski said. “It could have been a man or a boy. It could have been a woman,” he said.

The robbers, at least two of them armed with handguns, stole more than $350 in cash and a jar of candy, he said.

The ordeal left hotel staff shaken, hotel manager Christopher Lynch said Tuesday.

“Our biggest concern is the safety of our guests and employees,” he said.

A woman working at the hotel at the time of the robbery was recovering at home, Lynch said.

“She is off today and doing fine,” Lynch said. “This is a terrible experience no one should go through.

“Thank God no one was injured.”

Deputies are looking for a gold-colored car, Bryski said.
