SIMI VALLEY, Calif. (AP) — A youth soccer coach in Ventura County has been arrested on suspicion of punching a 16-year-old player during a fight after a game.
The Los Angeles Times says 47-year-old Bart Allen was arrested Monday on suspicion of battery and corporal injury to a child.
Simi Valley police say a shoving match broke out Monday evening following a game between teams from the Conejo (Koh-NAYE'-hoh) and Antelope valleys.
Police say witnesses reported that the Conejo Valley coach ran onto the field and began throwing punches. Police say a 16-year-old Antelope Valley player received a significant injury to his nose and cheek.
Police say Allen acknowledged throwing punches but denied hitting any players.
