Henry Mayo Newhall Memorial Hospital is accepting donations for new nine- to 12-inch teddy bears for one of the 9,000 emergency room child patients treated every year.

Local Girl Scouts and Brownie Troops will accept donations of teddy bears from 1 to 3 p.m. on Sept. 9 in front of the hospital’s main entrance.

Scarlett Piercy, a past ER child patient at Henry Mayo, and her mother will share their story.

The teddy bear drive ensures that all children who come through the ER have a new teddy bear with them through treatment.
