The multi-purpose circular sports field next to the skate park at Santa Clarita Sports Complex will get lights under a contract awarded by the City Council last week.

Council members awarded a contract of about $181,000 plus a contingency to R&M Contracting Inc. of Lake Forest to install the lights. R&M submitted the lowest valid bid.

“Providing lights at the Santa Clarita Sports Complex will not only create an additional 1,125 hours of new available field space, but will also generate nearly $20,000 in revenue,” city officials said in agenda papers.

The lights are expected to be operational by December.
