God made us free. For any of us (including a voting majority) to abuse that freedom and enslave peaceful others (i.e., force them to do what we want, take their property, regulate their lives, etc.) is therefore an immoral act.

Thus the only moral action of government is to protect liberty; anything beyond that is immoral coercion — an abuse of the very power given to the state in order to keep the peace.
