With the Christmas dinner over, the presents unwrapped and Santa Claus back at the North Pole, it's time for Santa Clarita Valley residents to haul their Christmas trees out for recycling.

City residents have until Jan. 10 to put their trees out for pickup.

Trees need to be free of ornaments, stands, nails, lights and tinsel. Flocked trees cannot be recycled.
Recycled trees are used as soil amendment, compost or bagged mulch that are given away every March at the Arbor Day celebration.

In the unincorporated communities, residents have until Jan. 17 to recycle their trees.

Residents should place the trees at the curbside next to the recycling and waste containers on scheduled trash-collection days.
