Letter: Ferry weakens city with recruitment

Bishop Alemany High School, in the San Fernando Valley, has run several full-page recruitment advertisements in The Signal.

Normally I would not have anything to say about this. However, the principal of Alemany is our mayor/city councilman, Frank Ferry.

The first person Mr. Ferry hired at Alemany was one of the better football coaches in the Santa Clarita Valley — Dean Herrington. Mr. Ferry, from what I understand, has been recruiting here ever since.

That would be a non-issue except, I believe, that creates a conflict of interest. As mayor, he is supposed to represent and help the city of Santa Clarita.

By having some of our educators and our best young people move to Alemany, he is weakening the city. This, to me, is a conflict of interest.
