Overnight the nearly 8,000 firefighters continued to make good progress towards containment of the rash of wildfires that have been burning across northern California. CAL FIRE contained the Mill Fire in Tehama County yesterday evening, as local, state and federal firefighters continue to battle 9 remaining fires. Crews will get a couple days of relief from the gusty winds, but by Sunday strong winds could challenge firefighter’s efforts.

Over the weekend fire danger will remain very high in northern California due to the warm temperatures, low humidity and tinder-dry conditions. CAL FIRE is urging anyone planning to go camping or be outdoors this weekend, to be extra cautious. Fire restrictions and a statewide Burn Ban are in effect, so Californians need to check before using any type of open flame outside in fire-prone areas.
