This isn’t your typical Santa Clarita Valley pastrami. This is the pastrami sandwich of your dreams — if your dreams include a soft roll and tender, tasty, Vienna pastrami from Chicago.
Patrick Fernandez of Grinders N.Y. Deli has turned pastrami night, Thursdays at 5 p.m. until he runs out, into the new “must be there” event in the SCV.
Pastrami sandwiches are priced at $7.49. Grinder’s regular menu is also available, which includes the Deli’s addictive N.Y. style pizza.
“When I was here a few weeks ago the owner asked me if the pastrami was okay, I said, ‘Absolutely not! It’s wonderful!’” said David Mills. “I’ve been back every Thursday since.”
Mills said he planned to alert his Facebook friends to the SCV’s “best kept secret.”
Mills also brought the rest of his family, wife Debbie and son Ryan on a recent Thursday. Debbie Mills said she is a huge fan of the pizza.
Grinder’s Deli, 18283 Soledad Canyon Road, Canyon Country, is open 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. Monday through Friday and 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Saturday. On Pastrami Night Thursdays Grinders starts serving the special pastrami at 5 p.m. and stays open until 9 p.m. (or later if the crowd is large). The eatery is closed on Sunday.
