Wildfire victims must register for assistance

California homeowners, renters and business owners who suffered damages in the November wildfires have until Jan. 20, 2009, to apply for the Federal Emergency Management Agency's Individual Assistance program.

Loan applications for disaster-related losses to real and personal property must be submitted by Jan. 21.
Those who have not applied can call (800) 621-3362 or register at www.fema.gov.

After the Jan. 20 application deadline, the toll-free phone lines will be available to help registered people.
