The Hart girls soccer team kicked off its Hart Showcase Tournament Friday morning the best way it knew how - with an impressive performance.

The Indians defeated Knight of Lancaster 3-1 thanks to a pair of Katie Trevino goals in the first half, with assists coming from Brittani Reddick and Alli Carivau, respectively.

Carivau scored the third goal in the second half off a pass from Kathryn Potter, as the Indians racked up 17 shots total.

Friday afternoon, Hart tied Crescenta Valley 1-1, with Reddick scoring a goal off a pass from Trevino. The Indians allowed a goal with less than a minute to play.

The Canyon girls team also earned a win and a draw on the first day of the tournament. Canyon tied Eastside of Lancaster 1-1 and defeated Cleveland of Reseda 4-0.

The Valencia girls team turned in an impressive performance early Friday afternoon by defeating Kennedy of Granada Hills 10-0. Emily Tuffey led the way for the Vikings with a hat trick, while Kelly Deckers and Kristin Bos added two goals apiece, and Alyssa Triana, Tiffany Geer and Nicollette Smith each scored once.

"You hate to have games end up like that, but it's hard to reel your girls in," said Valencia head coach Sean O'Connell. "I tried putting in different girls at striker. I pulled off a girl and went down to 10 players. We have a lot of speed and a lot of technical skill, and once you combine those two, if you don't have a back line that has the same, we just go right through them."

The Golden Valley girls team opened the Hart Showcase Tournament with a narrow 1-0 loss to Palmdale early Friday afternoon.
