At 6:59 p.m. on Dec. 25, Aidyn Wyatt was born to Arrika Hyman and Evan Anderson of Los Angeles, the only Christmas baby born at Henry Mayo Newhall Memorial Hospital.
"He's two weeks early and the best present we could receive," Anderson said of his 7 pound, 8 ounce son who measured 20.5 inches long.
Aidyn Wyatt is also the first grandson of Myron and Laura Hyman of Saugus and Gib and Lorna Anderson of Valencia.
Dr. Navid Navizadeh helped deliver the baby with the staff from the women's services department and brought Wyatt into a room full of awaiting family members in an over-sized Christmas stocking, part of the hospital's holiday cheer.
"The auxiliary provides cozy red stockings every year for the Christmas babies," said Joanne Timmerman, Henry Mayo Auxiliary president. "The family is always delighted to see their baby wrapped up in the oversized stocking, and it's a lot of fun for the staff."
Anderson, who was also born at Henry Mayo, said the couple chose the hospital long before the baby's birth even though they now live in Los Angeles because of a familiarity with the staff at the hospital.
"Arrika's sister had her baby here and Dr. Navi was her doctor. We knew we would be getting excellent care," Anderson said.
