OJAI, Calif. (AP) — Ventura County has been rattled by a 3.0 earthquake and several aftershocks, but no injuries or damage have been reported.
The U.S. Geological Survey said the temblor struck at 7:45 a.m. Saturday. Its epicenter was reported as a sparsely populated area in the mountains nine miles east of Ojai, about 55 miles northwest of Los Angeles.
The quake was rapidly followed by two aftershocks measuring 2.7 a minute later, and a smaller 1.7 shock at 7:52 a.m.
Several smaller quakes shook the area Friday night and last week.
Seismologists estimated the cluster of quakes to be centered about five miles below the surface.
