An off-road enthusiast was airlifted by helicopter to the hospital Sunday after his quad went of the side off an embankment in Hungry Valley, a fire official said.
Shortly before 11:30 a.m. Sunday, paramedics at the Los Angeles County Fire Department received reports of a man riding a quad vehicle — a four-wheel all-terrain vehicle — near the Hungry Valley State Vehicular Recreation Area, said the department’s Supervisor Bernard Peters.
“The quad went over the side of a hill and down 20 feet,” he said.
There was no report on the extent of the man’s injuries, Peters said.
Paramedics responding to the call requested helicopter assistance when they learned the crash had happened in a remote area.
The off-roading park is just south of Gorman and north of Pyramid Lake, set inside rolling hills on the west side of Interstate 5.
