It’s August. It’s hot. I’m looking forward to my trip to England and Scotland in September. If anyone has any suggestions of where to go and what to see (I’ll be on an organized tour for most the trip, but the last three days will be in London on my own) please give me a heads up. I know it will be cooler than the SCV!

SCV Youth Project

Kudos to Kim Goldman for her work to bring the great Comics for a Cause fundraiser to the Santa Clarita Valley. The event was held Tuesday at the Santa Clarita Performing Arts Center. What a fun evening! I think everyone was glad to be able to get out of the house on a Tuesday night and laugh. Laugh a lot. Jay Leno was amazing, as well as being a great sport. He stood, in the heat, at the VIP event and shook hands, made small talk and posed with photos with the fans. He is a true class act. All the comedians donated their time to help the Youth  Project which is one of the most valuable — yet unsung — nonprofits we have in the SCV. Kudos to all, Alonzo Bodden, Tammy Pescatelli, John Heffron and Mark Eddie. Good job!

Comics for a Cause

Among those spotted in the audience, Scott and Vanessa Wilk, Chris and Jayne Fall, Marin and Linda Rodriguez, Bruce Fortine and Gloria Mercado-Fortine, Kirk and Nicole Stinson, Kris and Tom Hough, Sheryl and John Geraci, Darryll and Patty Paulk, Jerri Seratti-Goldman and Carl Goldman and Marlee Lauffer and Layne Hedwell.

Water for dogs

The Brittany Foundation recently, a canine rescue nonprofit in Aqua Dulce has found itself in a bit of a drought. The Brittany Foundation is situated in the high desert on a ranch. They rely on well water to keep their rescue dogs refreshed. Unfortunately, the ranch’s water tank has “sprung a leak” and needs repair.

Rather than buy a new 10,000 gallon tank at a cost far exceeding $10,000, they are opting to get the old tank repaired by purchasing a water tank liner at a cost of $1,500, plus installation of $750. Total cost: $2,250. Yikes! That’s a lot of dog biscuits!  If you can spare $5 or more to help the rescue reach it’s goal visit If you wish to send a check, mail it to The Brittany Foundation, P.O. Box 738, Acton, CA 93510).
