A Sigalert on I-5 was cleared by 7:30 p.m. today after a big rig and car collided on Interstate 5 late in the afternoon, leaving one person in the hospital and scattering debris between Hasley Canyon and Parker roads in Castaic.
The big rig jackknifed and was stuck on the center divider following the 4:40 p.m. collision, and about five other cars were damaged by debris from the crash between a white Hyundai and the truck, CHP officials said. The two left lanes of the northbound side of the freeway were shut down after the crash.
Because the big rig was blocking the fast lane, a Sigalert was issued, said Sgt. D. Johnson of the Newhall CHP office. It was expected to continue until 6:30 p.m.
At least one person was transported to a hospital.
