ANAHEIM, Calif. (AP) — Raids targeting a violent Anaheim gang have ended with dozens of arrests.

Federal, state and local agents hit 54 locations on Friday, focusing on the East Side Anaheim gang, which is suspected of drug dealing and murder.

Police Sgt. Bob Dunn says 33 people were arrested on federal and state charges but as many as 25 more already were in custody.

During the yearlong probe, authorities also seized 11 pounds of crystal methamphetamine and 40 guns, including a pistol believed used in a killing.

Dunn says the areas raided included Anna Drive, the neighborhood where a reputed gang member was shot by police last month.

The back-to-back deaths of Manuel Diaz and another man sparked violent protests.

Police Chief John Welter says the raids weren't connected to the shootings.
