Hungry footballers from across the Santa Clarita Valley gathered Thursday en masse at Dick’s Sporting Goods for the 2012 Burrito Bowl in Saugus.

The third annual event awarded $3,000 to Canyon High School, which had a team of five players to devour a four-pound burrito faster than (Ed. note: Golden Valley, Hart, Valencia, Saugus, West Ranch and Canyon.)

The prize will be split evenly between the winning school band, football and cheerleading squads.

The second place team received $1,500 to be split evenly among the three programs and the third- through sixth-place seams received $750 for all their respective teams.

The event was hosted by SCV Concierge, Chronic Cantina and the SCV Advisory Group Real Estate Network.
