It was the perfect day for a pool party, hot and humid, and it gave families a chance to frolic in the water during the second annual SCV Pool Party held Saturday at the Santa Clarita Aquatics Center.

The event, a fundraiser for Single Mothers Outreach, was designed to be an “end of summer party” for families, said Martin Rodriguez, board member of Single Mothers Outreach.

Guests were able to purchase shade-providing cabanas, which ringed the pool area at the Aquatics Center.
“The cabanas sold out quickly,” said Rodriquez.

The unique fundraiser earned high marks from attendees.

“This is a great idea for a fundraiser,” said Danise Davis. “As a single adult I would never come here by myself.”
Tracy Hauser, of Re/Max Santa Clarita, purchased two cabanas at the event.

“I was a single mom myself in 1990 and I remember what a difficult time it was in my life,” Hauser said. “It’s a hard job.”

Hauser, a mother of four, invited friends and family to join her at the event. She also purchased additional tickets which she gave back to Single Mothers Outreach.

“We’ve always been big supporters of Single Mothers Outreach,” she said.

The sold out event featured entertainment, food, a raffle and silent auction.

Members of the Miss SCV Scholarship Program were on hand to sell raffle tickets and assist at the event.

The mission of Single Mothers Outreach is to empower single parents and their children by providing hope, support and resources so that families can become self-sustaining.
