After 10 days of searching, investigators with the county coroner’s office have located the family of a man who hanged himself atop an utility pole in Newhall.

Officials of the Los Angeles County Coroner’s Department identified the man Wednesday as Agustin Salgado-Hernandez, 31, of Newhall.

Shortly after noon on July 28, the man hanged himself from an electrical utility pole behind a strip mall on the west side of Newhall Avenue.

Since his death, staff at the coroner’s office have been trying to get in touch with his family, said department Lt. Cheryl MacWillie.

Their search led investigators to Veracruz, Mexico.

On Tuesday, they reached the man’s mother and notified her of his death, MacWillie said.
