Accused identity thief William Schaeffler has a holiday reprieve in his court proceedings, according to a court official.

Lawyers for the Los Angles District Attorney office and Schaeffler's attorney requested a continuance Dec. 19 at the pre-trial conference, according to a San Fernando Superior Court official. The pre-trial conference will resume on Dec. 30.

Schaeffler is accused of stealing the identity of his former girlfriend and using it to go on a July 2007 shopping spree.

The Santa Clarita victim asked for her name to be withheld to protect her from future identity theft.

The alleged victim was awarded $300,000 during a 2005 civil suit against Schaeffler, but was not paid, she said.

Schaeffler balked at a plea deal Oct. 29 and decided to go to trial.

Schaeffler is being held in lieu of $110,000 bail.
