Letter: All Christians don’t hate gay people

This is in response to your Saturday, Aug. 4, story on gay marriage supporters protesting at our local Chick-fil-A.

I believe there may be a misunderstanding about the “Christian” view on this issue. Chick-fil-A President Dan Cathy’s remarks are addressing the biblical view of marriage.

His comments have to do with the biblical truth that “marriage” is defined as a relationship between a man and a woman.

While some Christians may be intolerant of the gay lifestyle, all Christians don’t hate gay people. In fact, many Christians love them.

For the past few years, my church, The Sanctuary in Canyon Country, has donated money to the L.A. Gay and Lesbian Center with designated funds specifically for AIDS patient care.

This may be considered controversial to some, but we see it is an act of Christian love. Since the center is a 501c3 corporation, our funds must be used for this purpose.

Due to the size and consistency of our donations, we have built a relationship with this group. They are a bit surprised that a Christian church would support them in this way, but this is how we show the love of Jesus.

The handful of gay activists who were at Chick-fil-A on Friday and all others are welcome at The Sanctuary. The church is located at 26444 Friendly Valley Parkway.

Our pastor has written a reader titled “Restoring Relational Brokenness: Homosexuality ... A Place for Healing, Wholeness and Freedom.”

Feel free to visit us and pick up a copy. Services are Sundays at 9 a.m. and 11 a.m.
