A visual effects team from Encore, a subsidiary of Deluxe Entertainment Services Group, has set up a production unit at Santa Clarita Studios in a move that takes its services to the clients.

Having worked with Santa Clarita Studios for years, according to Bill Romeo, senior vice president of television for Deluxe, Encore’s permanent presence at the studios will allow productions to have front-end dailies and visual effect work for shows shot at the stages or anywhere in the vicinity.

The Encore setup will house dailies colorists, data experts, and a team comprised of a visual effects producer and effect artists. The expansion of the visual effects shop at the studio offers the perfect blend of a full-service studio and an on-site visual effects department, said Tom Kendall, vice president and executive producer of VFX (visual effects).

“With Encore’s new presence,” said Mike DeLorenzo, president of Santa Clarita Studios. “I can now offer my clients a vastly enhanced offering of services that includes dailies and VFX. We’ve partnered with the best to offer our clients the best.”

Current productions set to make use of the new Encore presence include CBS Television’s “Vegas” and ABC Family’s “Switched at Birth.” Vegas will make extensive use of Encore’s visual effect experts for set extensions and other services, said a spokesperson.

“The operation is fully networked to our facilities in Hollywood, New York and Vancouver and can be scaled to accommodate each production’s unique needs,” Romeo said.
