SACRAMENTO, Calif. (AP) — Sacramento County officials say a sheriff's deputy fatally shot a man who was armed when he emerged from a home where he had barricaded himself.
Sheriff's Deputy Jason Ramos says the firing happened around 4 p.m. Thursday when the man came out of the Fair Oaks home holding a long gun.
Police say the man went back into the home after the deputy fired at him. It wasn't clear the suspect had been shot until a robot sent inside the home showed images of an unresponsive man. Police entered and found the body.
The suspect's name has not been released.
The Sacramento Bee (http://bit.ly/QyGqZR ) reports deputies had gone to the home Thursday morning to execute an arrest warrant, but retreated after they saw the suspect holding a gun.
