In response to “Colo. shooting not a reason to limit guns,” July 26:
Mr. La Motte, can you please explain to me why any law-abiding citizen needs an assault rifle that can kill a hundred or more people in mere minutes?
When the Second Amendment was written, no one could have even dreamed such a weapon would exist.
Banning assault weapons in no way threatens your right to have a gun.
Your comments regarding insurgency in the this country, however, are threatening.
